Teen accused of 2 stabbings in Moorpark

A 19-year-old Simi Valley resident has been accused of a second stabbing in Moorpark.

Turk Rangel, who was already in custody on an attempted murder charge related to an incident in May, was arrested again last week in connection with a stabbing that took place July 11 at Spring Road and Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark.

That evening, Moorpark patrol deputies discovered a victim with a single stab wound to his left side, just above his waist. The victim was transported to Los Robles Hospital for medical treatment. He survived the attack.

During the investigation, deputies learned that while the victim was riding his bicycle in the area, he was jumped and stabbed by two subjects.

According to the victim, the two suspects appeared to be gang members.

Investigators later received information from two witnesses identifying, Rangel, a Varrio Simi Valley “VSV” gang member, as the assailant who had stabbed the victim.

Rangel now faces the additional charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

Rangel is one of five individuals who have been charged with the attempted murder of Reynaldo Munoz, a rival gang member.

At about 9:40 p.m. May 10, Varrio Simi Valley gang members confronted Munoz, 27, in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 100 block of W. Los Angeles Avenue in Moorpark and challenged him to fight, according to police reports.

Munoz was left bleeding on the ground with 14 stab wounds to his head, face and torso. He also had a fractured right forearm and other injuries. He was treated at Los Robles Hospital. Had deputies not been nearby, police said, Munoz would likely have bled to death.

Nine of the suspected 12 involved in the stabbing have been arrested, police said.
