T.O. temple opens Passover Seders to public




In celebration of Passover, Temple Adat Elohim, a Reform congregation, will host a series of Seders and events for members and for the community.

All Seders will be in the temple social hall, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Each Seder meal will be provided by Cielo Catering.

TAE’s annual Community Seder will start at 5:30 p.m. on the second night of Passover, Tues., April 11. Cantor David Shukiar will lead participants in the family Seder and traditional meal.

The cost for adult members is $45 per person; children ages 3 through 12 are $30 per person. Nonmember costs are $50 and $40 respectively. Checks should be made payable to Temple Adat Elohim.

Attendees are asked to bring a bottle of wine. Grape juice will be provided.

The Sisterhood of TAE will hold its annual Women’s Seder at 5:30 p.m. Thurs., April 13. This Seder, led by temple members Shoshana Fischer and Nancy Federman, uses its own haggadah, the story of Passover, as seen from a woman’s perspective.

The cost for adults is $42 per person; children age 10 and under are $28 per child. Make checks payable to TAE Sisterhood.

TAE’s Brotherhood Seder will be at 6 p.m. Mon., April 17. Rabbi Andrew Straus will conduct this event for brotherhood members and sons who are juniors and seniors in high school.

The theme is “From the House of Bondage to the House of Male Bonding.” The Seder haggadah was created especially for men.

The fee is $36 per person; high school juniors and seniors are admitted free. Make checks payable to TAE Brotherhood.

Straus will lead a Passover Hike at 9:30 a.m. Sun., April 16 at Conejo Canyon/Hawk Creek Trail. This family hike will cover approximately 4 miles. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash. This event is free.
