Moorpark’s annual Country Days celebration is soaring to new heights this year.

The time-honored community festival, featuring a parade and street fair, will take place Sat., Oct. 1 on High Street. Members of the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce predict it will be the best Country Days fest to date.

One thrilling new addition? Kids will have a chance to soar over High Street on a 70-foot-long zip line.

“I’m very excited about Country Days,” Mayor Janice Parvin said. “It’s Moorpark’s great event each year.”

The celebration is organized by the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce, Rotary

Club of Moorpark and a Country Days committee dedicated to hosting the event.

The parade will have a returning cast of horseback riders, dancers, marching band musicians, community members and, of course, elected officials and candidates for local public office.

“(Country Days) took so many amazing volunteers,” Chamber president Dale Parvin said. “We’re expecting large crowds.

As in past years, Country Days will feature fan-favorite fixtures like the cornhole tournament and live music. Six food trucks will be on site. Beer and wine will be available, too, but this year the adult beverages will no longer be confined to the beer garden area.

“The main thing that’s so different about this year is we’re allowing beer and wine to be walked around throughout all of High Street,” Chamber chairman Rick Brodsly said.

Enegren Brewing Co. is sponsoring beer and wine service this year. All told, the 2022 Country Days celebration has garnered twice as many sponsors compared to previous years, Brodsly said.

More than 8,000 people are expected to attend the community celebration, he said.

Putting the “s” in Country Days, the annual Moorpark Mammoth Run will be held at 8:30 a.m. the following day, Sun., Oct. 2. This marks the third year the 5K and 10K races will be held at Arroyo Vista Park.

“We’re looking forward to lots of fun,” said Carolyn Schrimpf, Rotary Club of Moorpark secretary.

Whether you’re soaring from above or laying low on High Street, admission to Country Days is free. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. The street fair and cornhole tournament run to 4 p.m.
