The Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees unanimously voted yesterday to require all students and employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 15, according to a press release issued today.
All students and staff who participate in on- or off-site services in person will be required to be vaccinated unless they are approved as exempt due to verified medical conditions or religious beliefs.
California now requires all state employees and school staff to either show proof of vaccination or be tested at least once a week, according to the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom. Additionally, the California Community Colleges strongly recommends vaccine mandates.
Those who are not vaccinated may be subject to other safety measures. If any of the approximately 31,000 students at Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura Colleges are unvaccinated, they will be required to take online classes.
Following Ventura County Public Health guidelines, the district will continue to adhere to indoor mask use, regardless of vaccination status.
