Querrey advances to Wimbledonfinal four

Sam Querrey’s living the dream in England.

The Thousand Oaks High graduate upset defending Wimbledon champion and No. 1 seed Andy Murray in five sets 3-6, 6-4, 6-7 (7-4), 6-1, 6-1 in the men’s quarterfinals on Wednesday to set up a semifinal showdown against Croatian Marin Cilic on Friday in tennis’ biggest event.

“I’m still in a little bit of shock myself,” Querrey told reporters after the win. “For the last point, I was just happy to hit the serve in. I didn’t start my best, but then I really found my groove.”

The 29-year-old tennis star used 27 service aces to outlast Murray, who was nursing an injured hip.

Querrey, who reached the quarterfinals last year after upsetting Novak Djokovic, is the first American male to reach the semifinals since Andy Roddick in 2009.
