Cubs draft Moorpark’s Barry

Several local players heard their names called during Major League Baseball’s draft on Wednesday.

Sean Barry, a dynamic pitcher from Moorpark High who slings cheddar for the University of San Diego, was selected by the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs in the 21st round.

Casey Ryan (Westlake, Cubs, 18th round); Frankie Tostado (Camarillo, San Francisco Giants, 19th round); Colton Waltner (Newbury Park, Twins, 21st round); Adam Kerner (Oaks Christian, St. Louis Cardinals, 37th round); Andrew Nardi (Royal, New York Yankees, 39th round); and Jonny DeLuca (Agoura, Twins, 39th round) are the other players with local ties who were drafted.
