Moorpark woman, 22, killed in 118 crash
Ginamychau Nguyen, 22, was driving westbound on the twolane highway around 6:40 p.m. when her 2012 Toyota crossed over into eastbound traffic and collided with a 1994 Peterbuilt truck driven by Bell resident Hugo Ruvalcaba, 44.
Officers arrived at the crash site within minutes of the accident, police said.
Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene and Ruvalcaba, who was traveling at about 45 miles per hour at the time of the crash, was not injured, police said.
Dep. Miguel Duarte, the public information officer for Moorpark CHP, said the investigation is ongoing.
“ For an unknown reason, (Nguyen’s) Toyota crossed over directly into the path of the big rig,” Duarte said. “Right now, alcohol and drugs are not being considered (as factors in the collision).”
The 118 was closed for approximately four hours during the on-site investigation.
Ginamychau’s exact cause of death is still unknown, Duarte said “The coroner’s office can take weeks or months to prepare a report.”
Duarte encouraged drivers to keep their eyes on the road at all times.
“We’d like to remind the motoring public to drive safely,” he said. “Especially on those rural roads, drivers definitely need to focus 100 percent of their attention on their driving.”
Those who witnessed the collision are asked to call the Moorpark CHP at (805) 553-0800.
