Catholic Charities moves to temporary location
Catholic Charities of Moorpark is moving to a new location on April 17.
The Moorpark Community Services Center and Food Pantry, which is operated by the nonprofit organization, is currently located at 609 Fitch Ave., behind the Moorpark Police Services Center.
Catholic Charities will be closed for two weeks after the move on April 17 and will reopen on May 1 at its new, temporary location at 791 Magnolia Ave., the site of the former Holy Cross Chapel.
The nonprofit will be open Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon at its Magnolia Avenue location.
Patricia Calderon, client resource coordinator for Catholic Charities, said the center will move again when it relocates to a building in the Ruben Castro Human Services Center— an under-one-roof facility for local community resources slated to open its doors on Spring Road in July.
The Ruben Castro Human Services Center will also be home to First 5 Ventura County, the Ventura County Health Services Agency, Interface Children and Family Services and other nonemergency social, educational and charitable organizations.
The Moorpark Food Pantry, a ministry of Catholic Charities, was founded in 1978 and provides food, clothing and financial assistance to community members in times of need.
Those who want to donate food and supplies to Catholic Charities this month are encouraged to wait until the center reopens in May or drop off the items at local thrift stores on High Street.
