Purim celebration in Moorpark
FESTIVE— At left, Rabbi Shimon Heidingsfeld of Chabad of Moorpark, right, and his father, Yehudo Heidingsfeld, read the megillah during a Purim celebration at the Chabad center on March 7. Purim, a joyous holiday, includes readings of the story of a Persian queen who saves her fellow Jews from genocide, as told in the book of Esther. Above, Maysen Mor, 3, makes a masquerade mask as part of the Chabad of Moorpark’s fifth annual Purim festival. Wearing masks and costumes is a popular part of the festivities.
