Program on eating disorders

The public is invited to attend the “Making Peace with Our Bodies” events which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tues., Feb. 28 in EATM Auditorium at Moorpark College and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thurs., March 1 in the Science Auditorium at Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo.

In conjunction with National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, the event will explore how advertising images affect people and possibly lead to an eating disorder.

The evening will have a film screening and a panel discussion. With 80 percent of women being dissatisfied with their appearance and the focus on thinness, obesity and dieting, the theme for this year’s awareness campaign is “Everybody knows somebody” affected by eating disorders.

Now in its 25th year, NEDAwareness Week brings national attention to the severity of eating disorders, which are mental illnesses with often life-threatening physical consequences
