The city of Moorpark is offering, as part of its summer recreation program, a waterwise gardening class, which will offer ways residents can conserve water and reduce their water bills, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sat., Aug. 15 at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, 4550 Tierra Rejada Road, Moorpark.

Ian Leslie, a local expert in ways to save water in landscaping, will share techniques on implementing budget-friendly water conservation techniques.

The class will cover ways to reduce water use in home landscaping, including watering practices, maintenance, plant selection and design.

In Southern California, 60 to 70 percent of water supplied to a singlefamily residential customer is used outdoors for landscaping and other purposes.

Residents may register in person at Arroyo Vista or online at www.ci.moorpark.ca.us.
