Long-distance riders pass through Moorpark
KIM RAMSEYER/Special to the Acorn ENDURANCE TEST—Bikers participating in the Los Angeles Wheelmen Grand Tour, Lowland Double Century route, pass along Moorpark Road heading north into Moorpark last Saturday. The total ride was 200 miles, with an optional addition of another 100 miles. The cyclists left Malibu at 4:30 a.m., traveled up PCH to Port Hueneme, through Camarillo and Santa Rosa Valley to Moorpark, and headed west through Somis, Camarillo, Ventura and up to Ojai for a lunch stop. After returning to Ventura, the optional loop went up to Carpenteria and back down to Malibu. While not a race, riders were expected to complete the route within 24 hours. |
