Exhibit opens of local, international artists
Works explore connection between music, visual arts
The High Studio Fine Art Gallery and Dance will host the opening reception of the "Do You Hear the Music?" exhibit from 7 to 9 p.m. Fri., July 10 at 11 E. High St., Moorpark. The opening reception is free and open to the public, and will feature live music from Los Angeles Philharmonic cellist Steve Custer The exhibition explores the influence of music on visual art. Local and international artists represented in the show include Gerry Segismundo, Esther Alinejad, Nina Bobrova and Rachel Weissberger. According to Bobrova, the inspiration for her piece, "La Opera," came from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's declaration, "The human voice is the organ of the soul." Founded in 2006, the gallery represents emerging and established local, national and international artists. Curated by Jean Amador and sponsored by Amador-Whittle Architects, the gallery's exhibition program features painting, sculpture, mixed media works and ceramics.
