Moorpark High quarterback Brian Blechen has made a verbal commitment to the University of Utah, which finished last season ranked No. 2 in the country in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Blechen, a 6foot3, 205pound seniortobe for the Musketeers, completed 36-of-62 passes for 509 yards with eight touchdowns as a junior.

During Moorpark's victory over Royal—the school he had transferred from following his sophomore season—Blechen suffered a broken right hand.

In Blechen's absence, Brody Rohach quarterbacked the Musketeers to the CIFSouthern Section Northern Division title game.

Rohach, who will also be a senior this fall, will compete with Blechen for the starting job. The two could end up splitting snaps.
