SYLVIE BELMOND/Acorn Newspapers MOVING ON—Cherie Webb, left, Camille Fesmire and Rosalie Perez show their plaques after a presentation honoring their long careers with Moorpark Unified School District. The recognition came during a school board meeting last month. The trio accumulated a total of 80 years of teaching experience. At a board meeting earlier this month, school leaders recognized three educators, who, during their long careers with Moorpark Unified School District, made a significant impact on students.

Cherie Webb started working in the district 30 years ago. She taught kindergarten in four different elementary schools and became a mentor for other teachers before transferring to the district office to serve as a beginning teacher coordinator for elementary grades.

"She's still viewed with absolute reverence for what she's done for countless children," said Marilyn Green, director of grants, assessment and special projects for MUSD.

Camille Fesmire, who taught at Campus Canyon Elementary for 23 years, also dedicated her career to local pupils. She initiated programs such as study buddies and pen pals, and established a jumprope team at Campus Canyon.

"She embraced technology and is someone who was there for the kids—she never gave up on them," said principal Stephanie Brazell.

Rosalie Perez, a special education assistant at Mesa Verde, shared her passion for learning with students for 28 years.

She worked at several schools during her career in MUSD and "always had a caring and nurturing attitude," said Richard Jenkins, director of special education for the district.

"Rosie is passionate, and she's definitely not shy," said Mesa Verde Middle School Principal Kelli Hays.

Barbara Matson, who retired in December after teaching 20 years at Peach Hill Elementary, also received a certificate of recognition from the board. She was not present at the meeting.
