Senior standouts: HS@MC
Nancy Calderone Nancy Calderone, 18, who transferred to the High School at Moorpark College during her junior year, started taking college classes when she was a freshman at Santa Susana High. She earned a two-year degree from Moorpark College a week before graduating from high school.
Nancy received the 2009 Community Service Award from the HS at MC as a result of helping her peers fulfill their volunteering requirement. She organized a team for the Moorpark Relay for Life and has been involved in student government throughout high school.
The young woman is a member of Interact, a youth leadership group sponsored by the Rotary Club of Moorpark. She earned a $500 scholarship from the organization in 2008.
Nancy has a black belt in tae kwon do from the American Martial Arts Academy, and she received the Paula Woods Youth Service Award from Simi Valley United Methodist Church.
Once she graduates from college, Nancy plans to attend law school and then work in the pro bono department of a law firm to help the less fortunate.

Peter Goldberg, 17, took many summer classes and college courses while attending Simi Valley High School from 2006 to 2008. He transferred to the High School at Moorpark College last year to continue his college education while completing high school.
The Eagle Scout volunteered in summer reading programs at the Simi Valley Library for about five years. He received the coach's award from the SVHS track and field team three times and served as treasurer of the SVHS Green Club for two years before being elected president of the club in 2008. Peter received the Simi High marching band's section leader of the year award in 2008.
Peter won the Target Team Hero award from the Simi Valley Target store last year.
He plans to attend Rochester Institution of Technology in New York and earn a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. He said in 10 years he hopes be working for the government solving environmental issues.
Peter said he's most inspired by his father. "He's taught me everything he knows about life and pushes me to meet my goals."
Peter is the son of Hal Goldberg and Clarissa Raaen.
