Lincoln storyteller comes to college

Jim Woodard, storyteller from Ventura, will present a program of little known historical stories at the annual Multicultural Day event at noon Wed, April 15 in the Fountain Hall building at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road.

Woodard will share stores about Abraham Lincoln and his signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, and discuss the similarities between Lincoln and Barack Obama.

Woodard received the George Washington Award for Excellence in Public Communications from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for his historical storytelling programs. He leads a weekly Storytelling Club session at the Ventura Boys & Girls Clubs.

The event is free. The program is primarily for adults.
