Don't blame the teachers for rally
      In response to Mr. Asher's comments last week regarding the protest against education cuts, I cannot speak to his interactions with the teachers which caused him so much upset. However, as a trained social worker, parent, and educator, I would like to respond regarding the presence of children at a protest.

Educator holds head high
      I am a proud parent and a proud teacher. My heart is saddened that this negative press has been thrust upon us at such a delicate time. On Pink Friday, our children saw their mothers, fathers, and teachers stand up for a cause that they believe in.

Kids understand political issues
      In his letter to the editor regarding the Moorpark Pink Friday rally, Howard Asher paints quite a dramatic picture. However, like most drama he has chosen to embellish a number of facts. He states that the majority of the protesters were small children. Most of the crowd was in fact adults, some of whom that brought along their children.

Family affected by fire says thanks
      Recently we had a devastating electrical fire in our home. Before I was able to get home after teaching here in Moorpark, neighbors and teachers called me to let me know that there was a fire in progress. They were there to comfort me as my house burned.
