Drive safely around schools

It is a shame that a letter like this has to be written, but I feel it is important to speak up regarding the traffic problems around our Moorpark schools.

I am sure all schools have traffic issues, but I am most familiar with those around Campus Canyon Elementary. There are far too many drivers, including parents of Campus Canyon students, who continue to put our children in danger by disobeying traffic laws and school rules regarding the parking lot.

There are those who do not realize that by speeding in the area, failing to stop at stop signs, making unsafe turns, parking illegally, allowing their children to cross the street anywhere other than the crosswalk and disregarding the parking lot rules that they are putting children's lives in danger everyday.

It is my fear that the solution to the problem may only come as a result of a tragedy. As a fellow parent and neighbor of Campus Canyon school, I am asking that everyone set a good example to our children and members of our community by putting safety first, even when it is inconvenient, around not only Campus Canyon Elementary, but all schools.
