Water district to make improvements to pipeline

The primary water supply pipeline for the Calleguas Municipal Water District will be temporarily shutdown to make improvements for water system reliability for the week of Feb. 22 through 28.

During the shutdown, water supplies will be delivered to Calleguas by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power through a parallel pipeline.

"It is unlikely that water users will notice any change in the quality of their tap water; however, as Metropolitan and LADWP utilize different methods of disinfection, there may be a slight change in taste and odor," said Dr. Don Kendall, Calleguas general manager. "Calleguas' water supply will continue to be safe and reliable as LADWP's water supply meets all federal and state water quality standards."

For further information regarding the impact on area water supplies, water users may call their local water supplier.

Calleguas is one of 26 member agencies of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the primary water supplier for much of Ventura County, providing water service to more than 550,000.

Calleguas provides water to the cities of Oxnard, Camarillo, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Port Hueneme and surrounding unincorporated areas.
