Active Adult Programs

The Moorpark Active Adult Center presents the following activities for seniors.

Events require a reservation and will meet at 799 Moorpark Ave. unless otherwise noted. Programs are free unless a donation is requested.

•A free computer class orientation session for older adults will be at 1 p.m. Wed., Jan. 14.

This session will present information about the free six-session computer classes that are available on a oneonone basis at the Active Adult Center.

Attendees will complete a questionnaire about their goals and available times for instruction.

•Betty Berry of Senior Concerns will give a free presentation on how to study for the written DMV driving test and hints on taking the driving test on Wed., Jan. 21.

•The annual fitness motivation program kick off will be at 11:45 a.m. Fri., Jan. 23. Participants will have lunch and learn about the annual Walking Cross Country Imaginary Walk for Fitness, an 11week program.

Participants earn imaginary "miles" by performing everyday activities such as gardening, walking, dancing and cleaning. The goal is to "walk" to New Orleans.

•Sharad Dandekar of the Yoga Bharati Institute will give a free yoga presentation and demonstration from 10 a.m. to noon Sat., Jan. 24 at the Moorpark Civic Center. Light snacks will be provided.

•The January "Winter Wonderland" birthday lunch will be at noon, Wed., Jan. 28. The menu will be turkey pot roast, salad and dessert.

At 1 p.m. singing impressionist Phil Birdsell will present a concert as he sings as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson.

The performance is free. The suggested lunch donation is $2.25 for those age 60 and up and $5 for all others.
