IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers WORDSMITH—Moorpark poet and community activist J. R. Rolly is honored by Mayor Janice Parvin at the City Council meeting last Wednesday night. Rolly was commended for his poems published in this newspaper and international poetry journals, and his verse set to music in contemporary Latin rock ballads. Thieves entered a motor home parked on Spring Road sometime between Nov. 6 and Dec. 22 and made off with a flat screen television. They also caused $400 in damage to the motor home. Three bicycles were stolen from a garage on Reedley Street on Nov. 23. The theft was reported on Dec. 15. More...
