Representative receives award

The United States Chamber of Commerce recently presented U.S. Rep. Elton Gallegly (RThousand Oaks) with the Spirit of Enterprise Award for his support of pro-growth legislation during the second session of the 110th Congress.

The award is given annually to members of Congress based on rankings it gives for key business votes on issues supported by the Chamber. Gallegly compiled an 89 percent score with the Chamber last year and a cumulative 93 percent ranking during his tenure in Congress.

Business issues this session included a trade promotion agreement with Peru, an extension of the Andean Trade Preference Act, an extension of the federal backstop for terrorism risk insurance, revisions to the rules of governing direct foreign investment and water resources legislation to facilitate commerce at the nation's waterways and ports.
