Can't engineers get it right?

Regarding "Roadwork plans" in the Moorpark Acorn, April 4. While I am pleased that the City Council will add an additional turn lane at Moorpark Road and Tierra Rejada, it leaves me wondering why traffic engineers, be they city, county, state or federal, can't get it right the first time. After all, that is their "qualification."

Surely this $30,000 is something the city could do with spending elsewhere. What about all the funds spent earlier adding another lane at Spring and Tierra Rejada a couple of years ago? What a waste of money that was given that all that was required was to make the right lane into a left and right lane to solve the problem.

Finally, we have the waste of probably millions of dollars on the 23 Freeway with the wonderful new exit and mileage signs. What was wrong with the old ones- wrong shade of green?

Have some fun next time you are on the 23 and find the two new signs that post incorrect mileage to the exit. Why can't they get it right the first time?
