Discovery Day to host child-friendly activities

Moorpark College Child Development Center will host the semiannual fundraiser Discovery Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sat., April 12 on the grounds of the center on campus, 7075 Campus Road.

The event features educational activities for parents and their children ages 18 months to 10 years. Children can "mine for gold" in the sandbox, experiment with ice and "doughs," "blast off" in a space ship, "buy groceries" in a store and more.

Gene West, the Toymaker, will be present all day. The Sunshine Band will play from noon to 1 p.m. Parents may bid at the silent auction.

Presale tickets are available at the center and cost $5 per child and $3 per adult. At the door, tickets will be $6 per child and $4 per adult.
