Moorpark College hosts auditions
Community may participate in two musicals

Moorpark College Theatre Arts Department will host auditions for its summer production of Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along" and the fall production of "Bat Boy: The Musical" on Mon., April 21 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on the Main Stage of the Performing Arts Center, 7075 Campus Road.

Actors need to bring their own sheet music for the song that they'll be singing. An accompanist will be available.

Callbacks will be Tues., April 22 from 7 to 10 p.m. and Thurs., April 24 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on the Main Stage.

"Merrily We Roll Along," directed by John Loprieno, will run from July 18 through Aug. 3. The show is based on the Kaufman and Hart comedy that takes three friends from high school back in time from their 20th reunion to their graduation day.

All types are needed, and not all roles require singing.

High school students are especially invited to try out for roles or work on the backstage crews for three hours of college credit.

"Bat Boy: the Musical," directed by Katherine Lewis with musical direction by Marilyn Anderson, will run Oct. 24 through Nov. 8.

This musical comedy/horror show examines a half boy/half bat creature found in a cave near Hope Falls, W.Va., and how he struggles to come to terms with his humanity even as the humans around him struggle to find their own.

All types and ages are encouraged to audition.

All cast members are required to enroll in the threecredit Theatre Arts M10 course.
