Rememberance found in a ring

On March 3 I received a phone call from the Moorpark Unified School District office letting me know that a woman was trying to get in touch with a family member of my son Tyrone Camacho.

Tyrone died on April 22, 1992.

Years ago the woman's father had taken his children to Poindexter Park in Moorpark where they had found a ring when they were playing. The ring had my son's name engraved on the inside. The father planned to return the ring, but life happened and the ring remained in the father's jewelry box. Last November the woman's father passed away. When the younger daughter was going through her father's belongings, she found the ring.

The young woman began her search for Tyrone's family. She started with Moorpark High School. As it happens I have been an employee of the school district for a number of years, and fortunately the secretary in our personnel office made the connection. When she called me, I was overwhelmed. Thankfully, I was able to make contact with the family and get back my son's lost ring.

There are many sad stories in the news today, but my story is a happy one that illustrates the goodness and thoughtfulness of others. The young woman and I prayed, hugged and cried as I received the gift that was a priceless remembrance of my boy Tyrone. Mari Luyet-Camacho Simi Valley
