Marmonte wrestlers advance to Masters Meet

The CIF Masters Meet is today and Saturday at Wilmer Carter High in Rialto, and many area wrestlers have qualified for the prestigious event.

Royal High, which easily won the Marmonte League title, will send six of its grapplers to Masters.

Sam Mestaz (112 pounds), Blake Ginsburg (130 pounds), Franky Bienz (135 pounds), Mike Dumelle (140 pounds), Sergio Cortez (152 pounds) and Aaron Van Driessche (160 pounds) will represent the Highlanders.

Thousand Oaks, second-place finishers in the Marmonte League, will send Colin Sasaki (112 pounds), Behrod Katebian (135 pounds) and Dillon Brockert (215 pounds) to this weekend's event.

Simi Valley will be represented by Chris Barr (130 pounds) and Jon Hamm (189 pounds).

At last week's CIF Inland Division Individual finals, Barr won the 130-pound division. He was the only area grappler to take home an individual title.

Agoura will send Pascal Combes-Knoke (171 pounds) to Masters. Westlake will be represented by Jason Villavisencio (103 pounds). - Thomas Gase
