Fine art entries sought for annual festival The annual Moorpark Arts Festival is taking entries for the 2008 fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., May 4 at the Moorpark Civic Center, Moorpark City Library, High Street Arts Center and several businesses along High Street. There is no entry fee to submit work. All work must be original of the artist and no more than three years old. Artists with accepted work are strongly encouraged to be present at the exhibit. Artists may submit work in more than one category, but applicants cannot turn in more than four items total. All two-dimensional work in drawing, painting, photography and sculpture submitted must be framed or, if on canvas, stretched with means to secure the work. Framed work must be wired and ready to hang with no saw tooth hangers or clips. Maximum overall size for two-dimensional work is 28 x 36 inches. Artists must provide a pedestal for any sculpture which requires one. Up to two pieces may be submitted. All ceramics work submitted must be freestanding as there will be no wall space for hanging. Stands need to be labeled with the artist's name. Commercial slip cast molds may not be used. Up to three pieces may be submitted. All gourd work submitted must be freestanding as wall space for hanging cannot be guaranteed. Label stands with the artist's name. Up to four pieces may be submitted. Artists are to bring entries to the Moorpark Active Adult Center, 799 Moorpark Ave. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mon., April 28 or between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tues., April 29.
