Strickland opposes tax increases

On Jan. 25, Assemblymember Audra Strickland (R-Westlake Village) signed a taxpayer protection pledge, sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform, to "oppose and vote against any legislation that increases state taxes."

By signing the pledge, Strickland is bound for the duration of her tenure in the Assembly to uphold the principles of limited government and fiscal restraint.

"Our state is facing a $14billion deficit, which did not happen overnight. Our deficit is due to the legislature's uncontrolled spending and not because our taxpayers are not being taxed enough," said Strickland.

Strickland believes that the government should cut spending instead of increasing taxes.

Copies of the pledge are available at www.atr.org.
