HomeAid Announces New President Robert A. Perlberg was recently elected president of HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura, the nonprofit arm of the Building Industry Association of Southern California. Perlberg entered the homebuilding industry in 1969 and has served as CEO for RAP Communications Inc., a full service marketing and advertising firm, since 1975. He has both bachelor's and master's degrees from USC. He has previously served as chairperson and president of the Beverly Hills Education Foundation, president of the Young Merchants Club of the City of Hope, and board member of the National Kidney Foundation of Southern California. "We are extremely pleased to have Bob Perlberg as our president in 2008," said Jennie MeredithCowart, HomeAid executive director. "His knowledge of the homebuilding industry and his passion for HomeAid's mission are of immediate benefit to the organization. Bob provides us with the continuity that is so important to a nonprofit organization. He knows the building industry, and understands the HomeAid model. He is well qualified to lead HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura at a crucial time in our long history of giving." The organization's mission is to provide dignified housing for transitionally homeless families and individuals throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties. HomeAid partners with local, regional or national service providers on specific projects and then provides guidance during the building process. A project might involve adding bedrooms or remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms in an existing facility to building a new structure. Projects range from $50,000 in construction value to more than $3 million for a new building. Major fundraising events are Hearts Building Homes on May 31 at the Reagan Presidential Library, a celebration of the organization's accomplishments and recognition of volunteer contributions, and Project Playhouse, in which the public may view and bid on miniature houses. Project Playhouse will return to The Lakes at Thousand Oaks in September. HomeAid Los Angeles/ Ventura's corporate office is at 31225 La Baya Drive, Ste. 209, |
