Theater is important to city I have read the recent Moorpark Acorn articles and letters. I am writing because I strongly believe that the theater is important to Moorpark's past, present and future, integral to keeping the arts alive in our city, and essential to High Street's revitalization. It is a wonderful resource and a unique part of Moorpark's history. I have met people from outside of Moor-park who recall the melodrama. The theater and the arts bring people together. The city and the theater manager, L.J. Stevens, should be commended on the fine performances over the last two years, including the radio broadcasts. My children still speak of "Barnum" as one of their favorite shows. We frequently attend the theater's productions with friends and family. In fact, I urge all of Moor-park's citizens to support the theater. Our neighborhood has put a theater group together- we take our children and take advantage of the group rates offered. It's a wonderful way to enjoy live theater without traveling far and it's a great family evening. I hope that the city will support the theater, support youth theater in Moorpark, and maybe bring the melodrama back occasionally. It's part of what makes Moorpark a special place to live.
