Free wheel chairs for Medicare patients

Medicare recipients may be eligible to receive a power wheelchair or scooter paid for with the assistance of Medicare, if they suffer from such conditions as respiratory disorders, arthritis, cardiovascular disease and have a mobility limitation and difficulty in propelling a standard wheelchair.

People with conditions that prevent them from functioning within their home and are covered by Medicare Part B and private insurance could receive a powerchair or scooter with little or no out-of-pocket expense.

Medical necessity and reimbursement amounts depend on the individual circumstances and policies of beneficiary.
