Driver arrested on DUI charge

SEBASTIAN RAMIREZ/Special to the Acorn WRONG TURN- Richard Zuniga, 49, of Moorpark, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. When officials arrived at the scene on Gabbert Road, south of Poindexter Avenue, the vehicle was upside down and appeared abandoned.

A Moorpark driver who collided with a tree on the side of Gabbert Road south of Poindexter Avenue Sunday afternoon was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving. The car, driven by 49-year-old Richard Zuniga, allegedly ran off the roadway before it hit the tree and flipped over onto its roof, injuring passenger Karisa Hansen, 32, according to authorities.

Hansen was taken to Simi Valley Hospital for treatment and Zuniga was treated at the scene for minor injuries before he was taken into custody. The accident is still under investigation.
