Resident injured in car wreck

Mary Schwabauer Mary Schwabauer Longtime Moorpark resident and community volunteer Mary Schwabauer, 82, was injured in a headon collision on a rural road south of Moorpark last week.

Schwabauer was driving westbound on Somis Road, when a vehicle headed east crossed the double yellow lines and struck Schwabauer 's Cadillac straight on.

Humerto Diaz, 26 of Oxnard, was the driver of the eastbound car. Preliminary evidence suggests that Diaz was going too fast on the wet road and lost control on a curve west of Hagle Lumber Company, ac

cording to Capt. Cliff Williams of the California Highway Patrol office in Moorpark.

Both drivers were injured and transported via ambulance to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital.

According to friends of the family, Schwabauer suffered a broken pelvis and is currently recovering in the hospital.
