Girls' softball is a winner
      Country Days congratulations go out to Moorpark Girls Softball for their double win at this year's event. The girls took home the Grand Sweepstakes Cup, representing the overall best of show parade winner as well as first place in the youth category with the Paul Harris Cup.

Who stole the campaign signs?
      To the intolerant, cowardly individual that stole the Yes on 8 signs from Willow Hills Drive at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, Oct. 25. Isn't it interesting that most shameful deeds are done under the veil of darkness when evil lurks.

Knights say thanks
      The Holy Cross Council No. 9969 Knights of Columbus of Moorpark would like to thank all the citizens of Moorpark who supported our annual Tootsie Roll Drive the weekend of Oct. 18 and 19. Every year, on the third weekend in October, the Knights throughout the United States volunteer their time to raise money to help the mentally disabled people in the U.

Regretfully, your daughter was not able to play soccer with Moorpark AYSO this season because we did not receive her completed application until well after our registration period had ended.

Time stands still for tragedy
      It was a day like any other. My wife was resting in our living room, watching TV, and I was in my den reading the morning paper. All of a sudden we started to hear lots of sirens. We didn't think anything of it at first, but then a police officer neighbor of ours who lived up the hill from us came down with siren on and speeding past our house.
