Assess candidates
I am an American, proud of this country, warts and all. I would like to believe that Americans will not vote against a candidate for president because of the color of his skin. Says no on Prop 8
Kudos to Lisa Padilla's letter, "Pushing politics," for exposing the Save Our Families farce that is Measure 8. I've seen similar flyers and posters around town. "Protect Our Families"—protect them from what?

My conscience won't let me rest after reading the letter from Lisa Padilla in the Moorpark Acorn on Oct. 17 and her blog to the editor on Sept. 18. Wanted: more soccer coaches
This response is in regards to a letter written Oct. 17 by Ed Mangola. I too have been involved with AYSO for the past 10 plus years in a variety of roles, so I feel I have some qualifications in addressing some of his issues.

An alternative to special election
Two weeks ago this Council made a very honorable and heroic decision to protect and recognize the rights of our community by maintaining our constitutional voting privileges. On Nov. 4, the honorable Councilmember Parvin is a shoe-in for mayor to continue to extend her tremendous service to the community, which will also leave her Council seat open.
