Chabad hosts Sukkot hut

Chabad of Moorpark will erect a sukkah for the Moorpark Jewish community in the Vons Plaza opposite Moorpark High School, Tierra Rejada Road at Mountain Trail.

All are invited to visit the sukkah and bless the lulav (palm branch) and esrog (citron), a Jewish custom symbolizing the unity and love for fellow man.

The Jewish holiday of Sukkot will begin at sunset Mon., Oct. 13, and continue to Wed., Oct. 22.

Sukkot means "huts," and the festival commemorates the Jewish peoples' journey through the desert on their way to Israel.

This sukkah location is made possible by the Noval family and is sponsored by Yehuda Yahini.

Chabad will host a community "sukkah hop" at 3:30 p.m. Sun., Oct. 19 starting at the Vons Plaza Sukkah.

Participants will travel to sukkots around the neighborhood to eat, drink, sing and dance. This event is for adults and children.
