National Merit scholars named

Principal Kirk Miyashiro of Moorpark High School recently announced that Elliott Blufer, Colin Calle, Kari Geiger, Neil Paik, and Zoe Sophos have been named Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The principal will present a letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, to these seniors.

Although they will not continue in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
