YMCA provides programs outside school time

The Conejo Valley YMCA is taking registrations for its fall before- and after-school childcare programs at Moorpark elementary schools.

The childcare service is available on all schooldays, pupilfree days and minimum days. Week-long camp programs are held during school breaks.

Moorpark childcare locations are Peach Hill Academy and Arroyo West, Campus Canyon and Mountain Meadows schools. Students from Chaparral and Mesa Verde middle schools will be transported to Peach Hill.

Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School students will be transported to the Conejo YMCA for afterschool childcare if minimum students are enrolled.

The program is licensed by the state Department of Social Services. Site directors, teachers and teacher's aides meet childhood education standards and provide a 1to10 staffchild ratio.

Each summer, YMCA facilities are updated with new equipment, materials and programs.

Morning programs provide a time for quiet play and lastminute homework. A breakfast snack is provided for those who arrive before 7:30 a.m.

Afternoon programs allow for an hour for homework with time for small group activities including arts and crafts and sports. Programs are designed to teach respect, responsibility and strong core values.

The YMCA is the nation's largest licensed childcare provider. The Conejo Valley YMCA has been offering childcare in Moorpark for more than 10 years.
