Synagogue opens its doors

•Congregation B'nai Emet will hold its monthly Family Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Fri., Aug. 1 at the synagogue, 4645 Industrial St., No. 2C, Simi Valley.

Rabbi Michele Paskow will lead the service.

Melissa Shilkoff, Lindsey London, and Lillian Knecht, who are students in the B'nai Emet Religious School, will receive the Bat-Or award, a merit pin for Jewish Junior Girl Scouts.

•The congregation will sponsor a "Get To Know Us" barbecue from 4 to 6 p.m. Sun., Aug. 3 at the synagogue.

Representatives will be available to provide information regarding the synagogue's activities, such as religious school education, preschool, Sisterhood, and Men's Club, which will serve free kosher hot dogs and hamburgers.
