Breanna recovers from surgery
Thank you for the overwhelming concern we have received since Breanna's surgery date of July 15, but due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, surgery was delayed until July 17. Arriving at UCLA at 5:30 a.m. on July 15, and prior to entering surgery, Breanna's procedure was delayed due to a trauma patient that took precedent. Having previously experienced a similar disposition we understood completely, and after six hours of waiting all parties agreed that postponing the surgery until the morning of July 17 would be best. Once again, we arrived at UCLA medical center in the predawn hours on July 17 but this time the course of events did not deviate as Breanna rolled into the operating room at approximately 7:45 a.m., with an expected surgical duration of four to five hours. It was shortly after five hours of waiting we were informed that Breanna's surgery was a success, but further evaluation of the results would be determined within the next hour or so in recovery.
I was present shortly after Breanna was brought into recovery, and immediately knew that her frame of mind was intact by her perky attitude of wanting to return home that very same day. It was less than 12 hours after surgery that she was in a room drinking fluids and eating solid food, continuing to surprise even us with her positive attitude and efforts to defeat this deadly opponent.
At this time it is uncertain as to when Breanna will be able to return home, but as in previous surgeries we can assume it may be somewhere between one week to two weeks depending on the possibility of any complications, but so far, all is good.
