Free classes teach skills for job seekers

The East County Job & Career Center presents the following workshops for job seekers.

Classes are held at the center, 980 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley. Workshops are offered at no cost to job seekers, although space is limited.

•Power of VOS (Virtual OneStop), 9 a.m. to noon, Tues., June 3. Virtual OneStop system is a valuable tool for anyone interested in looking for work, training or career exploration on the Internet.

•Computer Basics for Job Seekers, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mon., June 9. Become familiar with Windows desktop programs to enhance job skills.

•Resumes that Sell, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mon. and Tues., June 9 and 10. Twoday workshop providing handson assistance in completing a resume, cover and thankyou letters. Leave with a portfolio that shows skills and experience.

•Winning Interviews, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thurs., June 12. Supplies the tools to make a lasting first impression when interviewing.

•Online Job Search Strategies, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mon., June 23. Teaches useful and successful methods of surfing the Internet for job leads, and how to properly respond. Must have basic computer skills. Bring a completed resume on 3.5-inch floppy disk.

•Power of VOS (Virtual OneStop), 9:00 a.m. to noon Tues., June 24.

Career Shops are presented in partnership with Ventura County Job and Career Centers and are sponsored by the Human Services Agency and the Workforce Investment Board.
