Forensics team ranks high in national competition
      The Moorpark College Forensic Team is number two in the United States after a weeklong competition at the National Championships in Chicago. Los Angeles Valley College won first place. The team also earned the Sylvia Mariner Cumulative Sweepstakes Award for the seventh time at Nationals.

Students design winning toys
      Students from Walnut Canyon Elementary School in Moorpark were recently selected to advance to the Sally Ride Science TOYchallenge 2008 Nationals to be held at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on May 31.

Collegians earn media award
      Moorpark College multimedia students won the 2008 Media Arts Award Competition sponsored by the Multimedia and Entertainment Initiative of the California Community Colleges' Economic and Workforce Development Program. The students' category was web design. They won by creating the site FOOD: Fundamentals of Oral Delights at www.myfirstscrapbook.com.

     WENDY PIERRO/Acorn Newspapers NETWORKING- Moorpark resident and Cal State Channel Island student Nedda Shishegar passes out her resume at the CSUCI sixth annual Career and Internship Fair on campus last week. Shishegar is a graphic design major and will graduate in the fall.

Mesa Verde to screen Pixar pix
      The Renaissance Club of Mesa Verde Middle School will host a Family Movie Night screening Pixar/Disney's "Ratatouille" on Fri., May 9 on the school's lower field, 1400 Peach Hill Road, Moorpark. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with snacks and playing on the field. The movie will begin approximately 8 p.m.
