Roadwork plans

City Council members voted to add an extra left turn lane on the northbound Moorpark Road at the intersection of Tierra Rejada Avenue to ease traffic congestion during rush hour.

The new lane will open up the path so that Moorpark residents can get home quicker, said Councilmember Janice Parvin.

Costs to modify the intersection are estimated at $30,000. Lanes will be restripped and portions of the raised median on Moorpark Road will be removed to accommodate the additional left-turn lane from Moorpark Road to Tierra Rejada Road .

The city will try to get some reimbursement from county because the intersection also serves unincorporated areas, said a report drafted by city employees.

Officials also voted to spend $46,500 to purchase and plan 114 trees at the 23 Freeway and Tierra Rejada Road interchange.
