News from Breanna Pflaumer I feel like it's time for another update. On Oct. 7 I met with Dr. Lazareff down at the UCLA Medical Center. Luckily, all of my family was able to join me and give me support. From this meeting I received some good news- I will not be needing surgery at this time. My tumor has grown, but since it was not a significant amount my surgeon believes it's not necessary to go through surgery, especially it being my senior year in high school. So now I will be doing regular check-ups and MRIs just to make sure the growth is not at an aggressive rate. Another event I would love to share with you is Oct. 24 when I turned 17 years of age, and wish to thank you for your calls, visits, and gifts. It was such a magical birthday sharing it with family and friends. That night, one of my girlfriends, Ashley, was able to join us for dessert, making my birthday so wonderful. Overall, I am doing well in keeping up with school and with any luck will get to walk with my class at graduation time. On Nov. 9 I represented the kids with brain tumors in the We Can organization fundraiser, giving my first speech and was very nervous. Afterwards, I was informed my speech was extremely motivational and inspiring for all that were there, parents and children alike. Take care and I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. Enjoy the upcoming holidays. God bless everyone. Thomas, Terrie, Shannon and Breanna Pflaumer Moorpark |
