Sheriff's Blotter On Oct. 13, someone stole money from the tip jar and a money satchel in a business in the 100 block of High Street. The front door of a business was broken into on Oct. 13 in the 5100 block of Maureen Lane. A business in the 300 block of West Los Angeles Avenue was spray-painted with graffiti on Oct. 13. Damage was estimated at less than $400. On Oct. 12 vandals shattered the window of a vehicle belonging to the city of Moorpark while it was parked in the 4200 block of Leta Yancy Road. Gangstyle graffiti was spraypainted in the intersection of Peach Hill and Spring roads sometime between Oct. 11 and 12. A theft occurred at Chick's Sporting Goods in the 700 block of Los Angeles Avenue on Oct. 11. A man was discovered on Oct. 11 sleeping in the backyard of a private property in the 6500 block of Pinnacle Court. On Oct. 10 in the 300 block of High Street a thief battered another man in the face and stole his money. A lottery scam was perpetrated against a woman on Oct. 10 in the 500 block of West Los Angeles Avenue. Scammers got away with $1,500 of the victim's money. Sometime between Oct. 6 and 9, thieves stole an electronic card reader from the outer doors of Washington Mutual Bank in the 100 block of West Los Angeles Avenue. Somebody stole a pair of shoes from the Rite Aid store in the 3900 block of Spring Road on Oct. 9. On Oct. 8 a fence at the intersection of Peach Hill and Westgate roads was spraypainted with graffiti. Somebody left the Albertsons supermarket with a cart full of groceries that had not been paid for on Oct. 8. The groceries were recovered, but the thief got away. Sometime between Oct. 5 and 8, property was stolen from the Toll Bros. construction site in the 12300 block of Palmer Drive. Vandals spray-painted graffiti on a water tank and a number of block walls in a business property in the 13900 block of Princeton Avenue. The crime took place sometime between Oct. 5 and 8. On Oct. 7 someone stole more than $400 in merchandise from the Blockbuster Video store in the 500 block of Los Angeles Avenue. Somebody stole a bicycle from a school grounds in the 4500 block of Tierra Rejada Road on Sept. 27. During a routine traffic stop on Oct. 15 in an unspecified part of Moorpark, a passenger in the car was found to be in possession of marijuana. The man was cited and released. During a traffic stop on Oct. 13 at Millard and Big Ben streets, the driver showed signs of being under the influence of an illegal drug and was placed under arrest. On Oct. 12, officers approached a truck parked in the 4500 block of Miller Parkway, noticing marijuana in a baggie on the center console of the secured, parked vehicle. A man approached the truck from the nearby park and verified that the truck belonged to him. Upon investigation, officers discovered a baggie of white powder in the truck, confirmed as cocaine. The owner of the truck said that the coke belonged to a friend, who also walked up to the pickup truck. That friend said the coke belonged to him, and he was arrested. About 28.5 grams of marijuana were in the truck, and the owner of the truck was also taken into custody. Both men were 19 years old. In response to an Oct. 12 stolen car report on a Lexus, Moorpark deputies received a Lojack "hit" on the vehicle. The car was spotted during a search. Once stopped, both occupants of the car ran from the scene, but were found and arrested in the 200 block of Los Angeles Avenue. On Oct. 11 a man was arrested in the 6500 block of Marquette Street for shooting a firearm into the air in a residential area. During a routine traffic stop on Oct. 11, a driver was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine and was placed under arrest. The incident took place at the intersection of Hitch Road and the 118 Highway. On Oct. 8, officers responded to a report of cocaine use in the 6500 block of Rand Street. A resident admitted to using the drug and handed officers a rolled-up piece of paper he had used to ingest the cocaine. The man was arrested. During a traffic stop on Oct. 9 at an unspecified area of Moorpark, a male showed signs of illegal drug use and had a glass smoking pipe in his possession. He was arrested for the drugs and for driving without a license. |
