Moorpark College presents faculty dance concert

The Dance Department at Moorpark College presents its fall dance concert, "Random Thoughts," a showcase of original works by faculty choreographers, guest artists and select students at 8 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Oct. 19 and 20, and 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 21 in the Main Theater, Performing Arts Center, Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road.

Featured guests will be Backhausdance, a dance company directed by Jennifer Backhaus, and the Cal State Channel Islands Dance Ensemble directed by Carinne Bach.

"We are excited to be the first in our performing arts departments to extend this bridge between our departments and colleges," said Robert Salas, codirector of dance at Moorpark College.

The Performing Arts Divisions at Moorpark College and CSUCI have been hosting meetings to discuss the possibility of bridging the departments. CSUCI is a relatively young university in the process of building venues for their performing arts majors.

The student choreographers presenting works are Alyssa Belden and Kristin Rice.

Faculty choreographers include Wendi Baity, Denise Gibson, Vivian Goldes, Beth Megill, Sandi Patterson and Salas.

Tickets are $16 adult, $9 students and seniors.
