Plan Ventura County's future What will Ventura County look like in the next 20 to 30 years? Community members are welcome to help answer this question on Thurs., Oct. 25 at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi when the Ventura County Civic Alliance VCCA and the Ventura Council of Governments host a free community open house. The open house will have two sessions, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:35 to 7 p.m. Participants may come and go at any time during the sessions. Ventura County residents may use scenario planning to help evaluate the results of a countywide planning workshop held last June at Cal State Channel Islands. From this they will also be able to provide direction on future policies and actions. The June workshop created 19 maps depicting various possible scenarios for the county to accommodate the growing population of up to 200,000 people and job locations. Open house participants will help by answering questions about life in Ventura County on such topics as agriculture, open space, housing lot size, environmental protection, housing, transportation, employment land and building heights. The Ventura County Civic Alliance is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the quality of life in the county, primarily through engaging citizens in dialog on regional concerns and by educational endeavors.
