Healthcare for boomers Ventura County Homecare Association Inc., and Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center will present an educational symposium "Options for Care- Boomers and Beyond: Healthcare in the 21st Century" from 8 to 11:45 a.m. Sat., Oct. 13 at the east campus of Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center, 150 Via Merida, Westlake Village. The event is free and includes a continental breakfast, exhibitors, raffle drawings, and singers. The keynote speaker is Dr. Sharon Norling, specialist in integrative medicine. She is the only physician in the U.S. known to be nationally board-certified in OB/ GYN, integrative/ holistic medicine, and medical acupuncture. She is also trained and certified in functional medicine, first line therapy, the study of nutrition, supplements and specialty testing. She is also a biofeedback specialist. Norling taught at the University of Minnesota Medical School for 12 years. Also speaking is registered nurse Lori Stewart from the California Hospice Foundation. Her topic is "The Value of Hospice." Stewart is certified in hospice and palliative nursing, and works with Hospice Care of the West in Orange County. She is active with the California Hospice Foundation, whose mission is to improve access to quality hospice and palliative care services. Pre-registration is encouraged.
